The TIE Pilot Costume: BalaclavaThe TIE pilot operates in a hostile, environmentally-unfriendly place in the TIE starship cockpit. To keep costs down and efficiency up in the ruthless Imperial navy, TIE pilots sit unprotected in the starfighter save for what they bring on board with them. As such, the TIE pilot suit is assumed to be completely sealed, like a spacesuit.To that end, TIE pilot costumers wear a balaclava or headsock underneath the helmet to keep the back of the head hidden. The cut of the helmet reveals the back of the head quite prominently otherwise. The midweight balaclava from Sierra Trading Post is a very suitable, low-cost option.
